The Lake of Bouchet

Located at approximately 20 km in the south of the Puy-en-Velay (access by the RN 88 Aubenas-Mende direction), the lake of Bouchet is a natural lake of 45 ha (old crater of volcano) to 1200 m of altitude, surrounded by forests of coniferous tree.

Splendid natural site, the lake is a privileged place of relaxation and activities of full nature whose fishing occupies an essential place.

Property of the General advice, his piscicultural and halieutic management is ensured by the Federation. The piscicultural settlement is made up mainly of trouts (rainbow and fario), the other species being minority (cristivomer, gardon, pole). Regular rainbow trout repopulations are ensured throughout the year for the pleasure of all the fishermen, only or in family.

The practice of fishing is organized in 2 seasons with the different regulation and requires the acquisition of specific licences (see chapter regulation):

• season of fishing general public of at the beginning of January to at the end of August when all the modes of fishing and soft foods in 1° category are authorized (simple hook only);
• season of sporting fishing of at the beginning of September with at the end of December, limited to fishing with the artificial fly to the whip.

Fishing can be practised edge or in boat. The licences are delivered by the Federation and with the Country cottage of the lake, this last ensuring hotel trade and the restoration on the site.
